A clothespin is NOT just for hanging up wet laundry! As any kid can tell you, attaching a playing card to the spokes of a bicycle with a clothespin makes for some cool sound effects on a hot summer day …and they’re probably the original concept behind those plastic snack-bag-closing doodads.
On the other hand, cave divers may place clothespins on the lines they laid with their reels in the cave system as an additional means of confirmation that they are, indeed, following the correct line to their exit point.
