Danforth Anchor Medium Pendant 14K YG
Anchors are designed to take hold as quickly as possible after they hit bottom. An anchor plummeting downwards in fairly deep water strikes the bottom crown first. The drag on the chain causes the flukes to dig into the bottom to establish the anchor’s full holding power.
The modern, commercial Danforth Anchor is classified as a lightweight burying anchor with wide, sharp flukes. The stock on the head of the anchor helps to orient the large pivoting flukes into a digging position. Still used on some Naval ships, the Danforth is a popular choice for smaller craft.
We chose to feature this 14-kt Danforth Anchor because its large flukes don’t move! We all know how this anchor works – there’s no sense in getting stabbed or ruining your clothes. Why leave that to chance…or a fluke?
What does move on this pendant is the shackle and rotating eye-pin attachment on the swinging-bail. This pendant is three-dimensional, highly polished, and has a light satin-finish on the flukes for detail and accent. Approx. 1-5/8”L x 7/8”W, 4.6gm.
