Nautilus Shell Pendant
Texture, detail and high-polish make this Nautilus Shell an interesting piece of artwork, similar to the style of Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night. This living fossil has a unique, spiraled and chambered shell that supports, protects, and provides this mollusk with neutral buoyancy. The nautilus spend much of their lives on the slopes of deep reefs at depths of 600 to 1500 feet -- they have a depth range seen in few marine lifeforms and tolerate extreme changes in temperature and pressure. The nautilus swim by pulsing water out through a siphon, and use their tentacles to tend to their prey. This pendant is an artful expression of one of nature’s delights.
